Patterson Cafe

Type: Website redesign
Duration: April - May. 2024

Patterson Cafe is a local, family run business. Everyone in town loves their food, but their website doesn’t reflect the quality of their service or their food. This is a redesign of their existing website.

Discover: Competitive analysis, heuristic analysis, user interviews

The current Patterson Cafe website lacks accessibility and is not streamlined. The online ordering is completely separate from the website and doesn’t give an option to order while looking at the menu online.

Define: HMW

Identifying the competitors and conducting user interviews helped identify the things that could be improved with the current website:

  • Website looks it might not be safe to order from

  • Scrolling through, looks and feels busy

  • Color contrast/accessibility

  • Be able to order/select items to order while looking at the menu

How might we make it easier for people to browse and order items at the same time?

Define: Lo-fi prototype creation

This is version two of the wireframes/lo-fi prototypes. Although the first set of wireframes was designed to fix some of the problems, after getting feedback from some peers, I realized it still looked very busy and crowded. This led to rearranging the cards into a different layout.

Deliver: Mockups

After making the hi-fidelity prototype, even though I addressed the accessibility, color contrast, and being able to order from the main page, the pages felt and looked as though I didn’t address the problem of users feeling like it is a safe website to order from.
